Branding Methods for Wood Products
We offer multiple branding methods to apply your logo, artwork, or design onto wooden products. The right method depends on your material, desired durability, budget, and production volume. Branding Methods
Laser Engraving
Into the wood · Permanent
Precise, permanent marking using CO2 laser technology. Burns the design directly into the wood surface — no inks, no consumables, never fades. Suitable for detailed artwork, fine text, and complex designs. Works on most wood species and MDF. Light woods like maple, birch, and pine produce the best contrast; darker woods like walnut create a subtle, tonal mark. Available as shallow (0.1-0.3mm surface mark), medium (0.3-1mm), or deep (1-2mm) engraving.
Laser + Color Fill
Post-engraving fill · Decorative
A two-step process that combines laser engraving with color application. First, the design is laser-engraved into the wood surface creating recessed grooves (0.1-0.3mm deep). Then the grooves are filled — options include metallic gold powder for an inlaid jewelry effect, white or colored paint for high-contrast branding, or black fill for dark-on-light work. After filling, the surface is wiped clean, leaving color only in the engraved recesses. Works on wood and acrylic. Particularly striking on dark-stained wood or black-painted boxes where the metallic fill catches light from different angles.
Screen Printing
Ink on the surface · Volume
Ink pressed through a mesh screen stencil onto the wood surface. Each color requires a separate screen — best for 1-3 spot-color designs. Available in multiple ink colors including gold, silver, white, black, and custom Pantone matches. Produces a thick, crisp ink layer (10-30um) with excellent opacity. Most cost-effective at 500+ units due to per-screen setup costs. Works on natural, stained, and painted wood surfaces.
UV Printing
Full-color digital · Photo quality
Full-color digital printing with UV-cured ink jetted directly onto the wood surface and instantly cured by UV-LED light. Produces photographic-quality images, gradients, and complex artwork at 720-1440 dpi. The UV-cured ink is scratch-resistant and works with white ink base for opacity on darker woods. Ideal for brands requiring detailed, colorful visuals — no screen setup costs, making it economical for small to medium batches with complex artwork.
Hot Foil Stamping
Metallic finish · Luxury
Metallic foil applied using heat and pressure through a metal die. Creates a premium, reflective finish in gold, silver, bronze, copper, or other metallic colors. Produces a crisp, raised effect with subtle dimensionality. Commonly used for gift boxes, wine boxes, and luxury product branding where a high-end appearance is desired. Works best on smooth, finished surfaces — painted, lacquered, or tightly grained natural wood.
Hot Branding
Heated die · Traditional
Heated metal die pressed directly into the wood surface — the same technique used to brand wine barrels and wooden crates for centuries. Creates a recessed, darkened mark without any ink or foil. The depth and darkness depend on temperature, pressure, and dwell time. Produces a rustic, traditional aesthetic suited for farmhouse, heritage, and craft brands. Works on all natural wood surfaces; the burn effect varies by species density and moisture content.
Transfer Printing
Heat transfer · Complex graphics
Heat-transfer method that bonds printed designs from a carrier film into the wood surface using controlled heat and pressure. Handles full-color, multi-color, and photographic artwork in a single application — no per-color setup. The transferred design sits slightly below the wood surface for durability. Ideal for complex brand graphics, detailed illustrations, and photographic designs on flat or gently curved wood surfaces. Suitable for moderate production volumes where UV printing's per-unit cost is too high but screen printing can't handle the design complexity.
Metal Plates & Labels
Attached hardware · Premium
Custom-shaped metal nameplates, badges, or emblems attached to your wood product. Materials include brass, aluminum, zinc alloy, and stainless steel. Plates can be engraved (fine text and patterns), embossed (raised design), or printed (full-color). Attached via adhesive backing, small nails, or screws depending on the product. Adds a dimensional, tactile branding element — the plate itself communicates quality before the logo is read. Popular for luxury packaging, corporate gifts, and high-end home decor.
